Last Post of 2010...Personal Manifesto for 2011

I want my collection to evoke a youthful, comfortable and positive aesthetic and emotion. To also be accessible to the young women as well as having the use of some bold colours to give it an essence of spirit and courage. I designed my collection with the high street shopper in mind, so it’s quite simple but has playfulness to the clothes with this folding over concept. Within the collection there are many separates so it can be mixed and matched with each other depending on the wearer’s taste.

The concept of my collection focuses on the simple use of folding over technique to create interesting but minimal shapes. The concept and design came from toiling the basic shape of the Chinese robe and then developed my designs further from the jacket. Then I gradually began to build my collection with the concept of this folding over idea and to make my collection fresh l with the use of bold colours and stripes but also interesting yet simple with clean lines and A-line silhouettes. To also allow my collection to be relatable to the high street shopper and keeping it youthful with the use of denim.

Seeing it's my last post of the year I decided to post my personal manifesto for my collection and what I hope to do after I graduate, which is hopefully to work at a great high street company in the design department and hopefully in the near future be able to see some of my ideas made and just simply seeing someone wearing my design on the street, would make me happy! So I really hope that 2011 will be a better and bigger year for me and everyone! Happy New Year to all!!! :)

I changed my mind and decided that the Miss Sixty Brand is more suitable for my collection. With the use of denim and attracting the younger market.

RED for the Year!

Trends came and trends went in 2010, but brilliant, bold color may well be what we remember from the year in fashion—and no color more than red. “Red is inescapable,” and at the shows and presentations, crimson ruled. Above, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite options shown in New York, Milan, and Paris this year—many of them hitting stores in 2011, lest you worry the look may leave us early. Shrinking violets need not apply.

Prada!!

I saw this and was like stripes!! Also that it had the same 'feel' to what I want my collection to carry. This is outfit is from Prada's Spring/Summer 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection which ironically (for me anyways) showed in China.
'Prada is Beijing bound. The Italian label is the latest to take its show o
n the road to China, where Miuccia Prada will present her Spring ‘11 women’s collection (left)—with a few pieces created especially for the event—on January 22.'

Outfit 1 ....At The Moment

Outfit 1
-Jacket/Blazer
-Vest Top
-High-waisted Shorts

This outfit is going well, you can say and the main piece I need to figure out if the jacket and the lining. Changes I need to make is in the lapel at the front and taking some fabric out in the back. Where the high waisted shorts just need to be lowered like I posted about yesterday and the vest is fine, so I don't think any changes are needed to be made to it! :)

The journey of .....the Long T-shirt

I developed the design from my vest top for this long t-shirt which is to go underneath the dress but I also can imagine it with the waist coat on top and possibly style it with tights or leggings. Also you can have a look at the pattern for the t-shirt above. I thought it looked quite strange and interesting, and then to see the outcome. (below)

My 'Fun' Fabric choice

I went on a search for fabrics again this week ( being honest I feel finding fabrics is actually quite a daunting task, you want to get samples and its hard when people don't want to give it to you as well as it can become expensive and so on) but oh well, whats needed, needs to be done! Although I had a hard time finding so called 'fun' fabrics also jersey that I didn't think was ugly was hard. All I managed to get was stripes but I found this fabric (above) and I really like it, also I think its fun, comes in yellow too but I m not a big of yellow ( but that's only because a personal meaning to myself) So may consider using it and I planning to swap this fabric with the red pin stripe for the crop t-shirt.
Fabric composition: cotton/Elastane
Price per a Metre: £12
Colour: Pink & Mustard

Fail...well an experiment which didn't really work

Its always good to showcase all the positives and whats working but I thought I post on what 'failed'. Which I can't say it's exactly a bad thing because made me realise that jersey just wasn't working, but I might ask for a second opinion from my tutor next Tuesday. This was my experiment of a long t-shirt to go with the dress in my collection. Will mostly be one of the things I'm going to be working on this weekend! I guess it's yet another busy weekend ahead !!

'T' ShirtS

'T' Shirts by Masashi Kawamura As described on his website:
‘T’ shirts are T shirts that was designed to have the silhouette of 5 famous typefaces; Helvetica, Caslon, Baskerville, Courier, and Cooper Black.

In the world of typography, terms such as typeface, character, body, etc are used to describe the form of a letter. The reason why they use expressions closely related to a human body, is perhaps because each different letter has a distinct quality and personality, in a similar way that us humans are all unique.

In the designing process of these shirts, I aimed to capture the character of each typeface and tried to give them a unique look and presence once worn. By collaborating with Itaru Yonenaga, I feel we were able to produce a collection of shirts that is not only conceptual, but wearable as real clothes. I hope you will find your favorite shirt/typeface.

These shirts will be going on sale from No Control Air in January. Slight details will be modified to be more comfortable to wear. We are taking reservations and inquiries. Please email info@nocontrolair.com for pricing and details.

When I saw and read this I thought it was such a cool idea and concept, also totally love that its wearable. Seeing that my collection contains a few t-shirt I thought it was very appropriate to blog!

what I need to sort out (still & again) and what I kind of figured out!

Sadly the jumpsuit/dungaree is still having some fit problems but I've change the pattern again so hopefully it will work out better and suit better on the body! But on a positive note, I figured out the lining on the jacket which actually was a nightmare for me seeing I spent most of my Saturday trying to sort that out!
