Let’s call it Arcimboldo — with attitude. Those fantastical combinations of fruits, flowers, fish and vegetables constructed by the Italian artist into portraits are as compelling now as they were in the 16th century.

The super surrealist Salvador DalĂ loved the weird and wondrous work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and passed his enthusiasm on to his friend Elsa Schiaparelli. We may remember the shoe hat by ‘‘Schiap,’’ but her 1939 botanical headgear, made as if from juicy purple grapes nestling in green leaves, was just as surreal.

This season fruit is back, in prints and patterns that are voluptuous in their rounded orange-and-apple combos, and fresh in their association of nature’s abundance with simple clothes. Whimsical and funky, this sweet message is also part of a deeper belief that style has moved too far into the concrete jungle of an urban setting; and that fast fashion needs to slow down, stretch out under an apple tree in a grassy spot and linger.

My Thought: This was a really cool editorial and concept also perfect for the 'almost' coming summer I hope. Maybe people don't like eating salads but maybe will want to wear them!

Mary Katrantzou, AW12

I ve always loved her work she really knows how to create this stunning art with her prints with her clothing and the silhouettes she chooses makes such a wonderful combination!

LFW: Antonio Berardi, AW12 & Fred Butler, AW12

Day 4

Antonio Berardi

4 words: Boldly contemporary edged elegance

But I have to say more that 4 words for his designs what I like so much about them is that the garments are wearable and so elegant but its edgy at the same time also the strong pops of colours are just gorgeous!

I had to mention these shoes by Fred Butler because they are just that awesome !

Invites to LONDON FASHION WEEK

From Left to Right - Antipodium, Topshop Unique, Mary Katrantzou, House of Holland, Markus Lupfer, Acne and Mulberry

London fashion week starts on Friday 17 February, which means the invites are coming in thick and fast. Aside from an upswing in papercuts, this is the cause of much excitement among the Guardian fashion lot, because invitations usually hint at what the show will be about. I say usually because the Jonathan Saunders invite was plain white and smelt of goose fat, which is not an accurate reflection of his clothes. Mulberry have sent a gigantic golden key that's so big it could be considered a weapon, print genius Mary Katrantzou has a holographic image of crayons and Henry Holland has sent the most useful one yet - an iPhone cover

Source: guardian.co.uk

Would be amazing to receive an invite but for the mean time just knowing what they look like is cool and I find branding very interesting and how company market themselves through every little thing (which makes a strong brand) I think if I was receiving a invite based on the invite only it would be Henry Holland. That's so smart and useful! Plus I don't think they would cost that much too make and makes a unique invitation ! Although not everyone may have an IPhone !

As for clothing design wise I d love to go to Mary Katrantzou show. She does amazing prints and uses unique silhouettes! Her work is colourful and full of life ! Also loving her collection that's just hit Topshop!

Be ready LONDON FASHION WEEK commences tomorrow !

Giles Deacon Dress Inspired By Chinese Paper Cutting ?!

The Giles Deacon swan dress worn by Dianna Agron at the Golden Globes gets top marks for originality. The dress was designed with laser cut outs of thousands of swans. This design was the theme of Giles’ Spring 2012 collection (source:http://www.realstylenetwork.com)
(Image from http://xinjingrushui.com)

I think the dress is really beautiful but can't help think that it was totally inspired by traditional Chinese paper cutting. Either way I love the design of the down and think it's a well fitted red carpet ensemble!

Festive Shop Window Displays

Many Christmas themed window displays are of course a must around this time of year and telegraph had an article about it and some pictures of several displays around the world and out of them my favourite is the Parisian department store, Printemps, displays miniatures of designer Karl Lagerfeld in their adorable window display. I thought it was cute, slightly different and quirky from the rest ! well Paris is one of the fashion capitals of the world for a reason.
Also luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co's windows depict a miniature snow-filled, woodland scene with a carousel, complete with elegant rides in the form of reindeers, lions and zebras is pretty awesome display too and there are many other so check it out at: http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/galleries/TMG8913638/Christmas-window-shopping-the-best-of-the-festive-windows.html (SOURCE)
