Three Is a Trend: Designers Debut Swimwear for Resort

From left: Jason Wu, Chris Benz, Alexander Wang.

Several designers are making a splash for Resort 2012, adding a vacation staple to their repertoire — swimwear. Jason Wu showed several suits, in both a bandeau bikini and a sporty maillot style, at his presentation last week and getting the details just right proved to be quite a challenge. "It was much harder than I thought it would be," said Wu. "Getting the fit just right was tedious." Chris Benz, who tapped the same manufacturer as Wu for his first foray into swimwear, felt the same way. "Who knew how hard it was to design such a small piece of fabric," the designer exclaimed. His floral onesy was a nod to retro surf styles. And yesterday, Alexander Wang announced his poolside collection — along with the news that he is opening a second store in Beijing — showing speed and sport-inspired one-pieces, in his signature urban aesthetic. One thing's for certain — less skin is in and beach volleyball is game on with these suits.

W MAGAZINE MUSIC & FASHION

ArT CoMeS ToGeThEr

Combining the worlds of music and fashion is the W Magazine Music & Fashion feature. Focusing on the connection between the two, the shoot captures some big names in both industries.

The W Magazine Music & Fashion photo shoot pairs stars like MIA with Donatella Versace and Karl Lagerfeld with Janelle Monae. Shot in varying poses that show off each subject’s personality, the feature paints a picture of intertwining inspiration. Each photo is different in the essence it captures with showing the stars behind the lens but sends the message that art comes together at the end of the day.

Take a look at the W Magazine Music & Fashion shoot and you may find your favorite stars caught mingling together on camera.

Let's go Fruity !

From palm leaves to peaches, fruity, tropical prints were one of the biggest - not to mention most fun - trends to emerge from the spring/summer 2011 catwalks. Here's our pick of the bunch...

And Stella McCartney's Fruity Prints has been getting a lot of press. Even though maybe many people aren't feeling the new print instead of the traditional floral for the summer I like the fruity prints and think it's nice to have a change and using fruits as print make the clothes all the more fresh and juicy ! If done right that is! But I am definitely not liking the Prada's Banana prints!

Getting Ready For the Water..or just the sun!

It's summer time so everyone wants to go to the beach or get a tan and of course look good doing so! That's why I decided to look into this year swimwear trends!
Both: Nanette Lepore

Michael Kors

The 2011 catwalks were awash with retro references that called to mind the beach side glamour of starlets from the Sixties and Seventies.

Shade yourself with a giant sun hat – one from Marc Jacobs or Prada will be sizeable enough.

Nanette Lepore, Michael Kors and Elie Tahari teamed waist-high bottoms with bikini tops for a grown-up but subtly sexy look. The good news is that while wearing more fabric, you can style it up with different accessories.

Look out, also, for bikinis in flesh and neutral tones to show off your tan on day three.

Leave the heels at home. They don’t work in sand. Better to go for metallic sandals by Aspiga for a glamour hit or down-to-earth brown sandals.

Make like the Pucci girls and tie a scarf around your head for a Seventies styling flair.

Trend Re-Vamped: FLORALS

Fashion's new wave of florals kiss goodbye to ditsy prints. The catwalks' petals are now Oriental, intricate or appliqué - so take style notes and be blooming beautiful!
