Bath Fashion Museum Celebrates 50 Great Dresses

 FIFTY of fashion's most beautiful dresses will go on show at Bath's Fashion Museum on February 2, as the museum celebrates its 50^th birthday. The 50 Fabulous Frocksexhibition - which took two years to create - will include iconic names such as Schiaparelli, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, in addition to contemporary labels, including Erdem and John Rocha. "The selection of the 50 pieces has been a careful editorial process," said Fashion Museum principal curator Rosemary Harden, who compiled the showcase with fashion writer Iain R Webb. "There were some show-stoppers to be included right from the start, but other pieces came and went - and then came back again into the final exhibition object list. Some of the pieces in the show illustrate a personal wardrobe moment, while others mark an iconic moment in fashion history."

The collection showcases ancient pieces which dates back to the 1660, while the most recent is taken from Burberry's autumn/winter 2012-13 collection. (shown below)

Burberry Prorsum Show at LFW Spring Summer 2013

 Burberry is always know as one of the biggest shows to look out for at London Fashion week. Their last LFW apperance was sure to be one of the most spectacular ending in true London style with umbrellas was in my mind a artistic site and yesterdays show was no difference. From the start where they delicately unveils the glass rooftop to let the natural like in was wonderful.

The collection itself was beautiful and the use of bright colours and metallics I think allowed the collection to stand out. The use of corset, capes and Burberry's oh so famous trench made the collection sleek, chic and sexy. As Bailey described this collection as "a little bit sassier, a little bit sexier, and a little bit more joyful". Inspired by a 100 year-old image of Burberry corsets and capes from its archive, plus the "very British glamour" of Norman Parkinson, its first look was a dramatic cream cloak worn over a saucy-for-Burberry satin basque. Another thing I found interesting was the styling in how the models hair was tucked into the garments, which I thought was uniquely cool actually.

The trench coat is to Burberry what the iPhone is to Apple. And here, as every season, it was remixed, ramped-up, and presented to buyers anew. Burberry's 2013 trenches included some fantastically rich, deeply coloured lace versions, and a fuchsia to midnight blue kaleidoscope of satin varieties. Yet more were treated to glint metallically in a sweetshop palette of almost sickly pink and limes. Colour-blocking, peplums, some bird-of-paradise feather dresses and even the revival of Burberry's signature check on the panels of metallic-trimmed handbags were other notable features in this remorselessly slick, visually overwhelming show. Lea Michele stuns in a pink Oscar de la Renta structured drape grown. Another dress which caught my eye and thought look amazing was Kyra Sedgwick looked absolutely radiant in a marigold Emilio Pucci Spring 2011 gown, which was modified to better suit her style. The dress originally featured a fully open back and cut-out sides, so I’m glad Kyra got it modified to be a bit more tasteful for this particular event.Although some might not have loved Leighton's dress I thought it was quite fresh compared to all the other colour splashing gowns and she works the long sleeves well. She pulls of this long Burberry dress with elegance and glamour. Love her!

Finally this Versace number is surely red carpet perfect! The fringing makes it contemporary, while the sharp red and silhouette keeps is classic. Plus January Jones looks extraordinary in the number and I didn't even know her name before this, so she sure made a good impression!
